A home goods production group runs a large base in Yiwu, making storage, kitchen, bathroom and seasonal home products, mainly for the Russian and CIS markets. The group uses a rail-first, road-secondary transport structure, and Kaguo is the lead carrier on its rail line.

Background

The group has many categories, large volumes and low value per shipment — rail fits its cost sensitivity. But with thousands of SKUs across long product lines, container loading is complex and requires experienced stowage planning to avoid wasted space and crush damage.

What we do

Kaguo arranges 3-4 rail departures weekly (Yiwu–Moscow direction) with stowage plans built around the SKU mix; extra slots are locked ahead in peak season. Goods enter the Yiwu pickup point locally; Kaguo coordinates trucking, loading and border transhipment with every milestone trackable.

Results

Since the cooperation began, the group ships 60+ standard containers monthly by rail; container utilisation rose about 8% and cost per container fell 6%; on-time performance for the 20-25 day tier is 98% with damage below 0.1%. The stable train schedule lets the group's Russian clients announce arrival times a month ahead, making channel stocking much calmer.

Working mechanism

Every Monday the group submits the week's dispatch list; Kaguo finalises stowage plans and confirms slots by Wednesday. Quarterly rate agreements keep peak-season increases pre-agreed in writing, so the group's costs stay predictable.
